Subject Matter Expert for DSAPT Compliance
The overall project involved auditing of two existing heritage trains & stops used used in far north Queensland (known as the Gulflander and KSR) against the requirements of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (DSAPT).
The role of MSA involved extensive compliance review of the existing trains, stops and infrastructure and extensive liaison with Human Factors consultants to provide a return report to Queensland Rail with recommendations to bring the service into better compliance with modern DSAPT standards whilst remaining sympathetic to the heritage and other existing constraints.
Taronga Zoo Conservation Society

Originally built in 1987, an $81 million dollar upgrade is now proposed to the iconic Taronga Zoo Sky Safari. The new-look service will feature additional, larger and more accessible gondolas, an expanded route and new accessible stations to meet evolving community needs and expectations.
MSA were selected to provide Lead BCA & DDA Accessibility services for this historic upgrade. Using our niche transport knowledge, we have worked extensively with the design team over several years to help create a truly innovative and inclusive gondola skyway experience to be enjoyed for generations to come.

The project involved the upgrading of the existing security screening measures at Sydney Airport Terminal 1 to include full body scanners and to accommodate revised queuing and security screening facilities.
MSA were engaged as the lead BCA & DDA consultant during the multi-staged design to ensure compliance of the design as part of the successful Building Permit Application to the Airport Building Controller.

Macquarie Park will be the first purpose-built battery electric bus depot delivered as part of the Zero Emission Buses Program, a NSW Government initiative to transition the State’s 8000 plus diesel and compressed natural gas buses, to zero emissions technology by 2047.
The role of MSA was to undertake BCA & DDA Accessibility assessments of the concept designs and provide compliance strategies to best meet BCA & DDA requirements as well as liaison with the Fire Engineer to ensure the unique risks of the proposed development will be appropriately safeguarded in the design.

Western Harbour Tunnel will see a new motorway built underneath Sydney Harbour to connect North Sydney to Rozelle, bypassing the CBD. The $4.24 Billion Stage 2 includes connections from Stage 1 at Cove Street, Birchgrove, to the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney, tunnelling under Sydney Harbour and the complete tunnel fit-out.
The role of MSA included BCA & DDA assessment of the various ventilation and services support and administration buildings at Cammeray and Rozelle as well as providing detailed DDA Accessibility advice to inform the Design JV and Fire Engineer on accessibility expectations for passengers with disabilities or limited mobility when evacuating the tunnels.
Canberra Metro, John Holland & CPB

Canberra Light Rail Stage 2A is a 1.7km extension of the existing Light Rail to include 3 x new light rail stations and a new substation. The project also involves complex streetscape upgrades to improve accessibility and providing greater connection between the city and the lake.
MSA are providing detailed staged BCA and DDA reviews throughout the design (and construction) on this important piece of infrastructure for our nation’s capital.
